Today
Having remained in Canada this summer instead of my usual jaunt to the UK, I have busied myself with more house renovations. The laundry room was badly in need of fixing so I devoted July to that. It is now completed and looks tremendously better, even though I didn't gut the room as most would have done. My reason: couldn't afford to do it. With drywall, I'd have needed help and couldn't afford to pay for it. So with drywall compound in hand, I set to 'fixing', as best I could, the wretched walls. One day they will need gutting, but for now they look lovely. I painted them a semi-gloss, in 'celery ice'. It looks kind of like a pale yellow but not as pale as the other room which I did a year ago.
So now the cats are able to enjoy a bright fresh room, as that's where their cages reside, and I even managed to declutter the unwanted/unneeded items that had wound up stored in the room. I must admit to being pretty chuffed about the whole thing as I stand there admiring my work. I'm getting rather handy with the power tools, paint brushes and rollers, but I do still manage to get paint all over myself.
I have also restarted my writing course, thanks to Michael LaRocca's kindness to let me pick up where I left off last year. Wish I could say I feel as motivated as I first did, but my brain keeps running through all the other things I should be doing. We won't go into that, as the list is long and boring.
For the rest of August I plan (read: hope) to update my online shop and get it up to snuff so it can be promoted, keep up my blogging (I have missed it), spend less time in chat rooms, and refocus myself on my art, plans, and future.
Oh, I have also updated my Links page, and have added two online shops I hope you will check out. Sules.co.uk features fabulous bespoke jewelery created by my friend Sue. Down Under Creations features the designs of my friend Patty. Please do have a look, and spread the word. Thanks so much! To Sue and Patty, all the best on your endeavours, Ladies!
